Student Support

UW/A believes that education is a basic human right and that all people should be able to exercise that right by having pathways to pursue it. We work with multiple partners to provide pathways for students and continue to explore new avenues to align support for youth in education.

University Sponsorship

There is no question that continued education has the potential to open doors and transform eager minds. This can be particularly true for students who are committed to returning to their communities to share the knowledge and skills. Whether students pursue a degree in Public Health, in Agricultural Science, or in Business Administration, there is no doubt that the skills and knowledge they acquire will empower them to be the change they wish to see in their local communities.

Up with Africa supports youth as local leaders and helping them access opportunities for continued education. Through Kapadia Education Foundation (KEF) we’ve been able to provide those opportunities to students. By going through KEF they not only coordinated the donation of funds, but also provide mentorship to those sponsored students to help ensure their success in their University pursuits.

English Plus Camp

Up with Africa hosted an English Plus Camp in 2019 for young people from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The camp was created at the request a partner organization (CIYOTA) who was looking for an English Curriculum to offer as a continuation of the skills students were currently learning at one of their programs. UW/A designed the camp as an English immersion experience for the students, with a focus on college and career preparation. Youth unemployment is a dire situation throughout DRC, and much of sub-Saharan Africa so we crafted our camp in such a way to provide youth with a series of experiences that will help them identify and chart their own college or career path.
